In order to increase accuracy, an electronic tuning register has been included in the PCF2123. It can be used to compensate for the aging of the quartz crystal, temperature compensation, and initial accuracy tuning. The correction is made by adding or subtracting pulses from an internal 64 Hz clock and is made once every two hours in normal mode or once ever hour in course mode.
