TN, MVA, and IPS TFT displays all have great benefits, but there are key differences between how they work and their viewing angles, as well as cost. While TN and MVA displays work the same, the TN display has a faster response time and generally costs less. While TN displays have a smooth polarizer, MVA displays have a ridged polarizer resulting in better viewing angles than the TN display. The IPS display’s make up is similar to the TN technology, but the liquid crystals rotate in-plane giving the display the best viewing angles and color reproduction. However, IPS displays generally cost the most.
