MFI’s product offerings fall generally into three product lines: accelerometers, inclinometers, and gyroscopes. Accelerometers measure acceleration, which is comprised of changes in speed and/or changes in direction. These are high-performance devices that are available with either analog or digital output that can be used in safety critical automotive applications as well as industrial equipment. Inclinometers measure the angle of departure from true vertical or horizontal. These are high accuracy devices developed for use in heavy machinery, ground vehicles, aircraft, construction equipment, as well as hand-held devices. Whereas accelerometers sense the forces imposed on an object to change its speed or direction, gyroscopes sense rotational movements; that is, the turning of an object about an axis through the object. Gyroscopes are commonly incorporated into aircraft, watercraft, and ground vehicles, as well as robotic systems for motion analysis, stabilization, guidance, and navigational control. In the following slides, we present each of these products lines in greater detail.
