In addition to the ECC Flash with live update and larger memory, the GB family includes all of these new features in two package types: the very small 64-pin TQFP QFN and 100-pin TQFP BGA. These features are complemented by a robust set of peripherals, including Microchip Core Independent Peripherals (CIPs) that run without the CPU including a Configurable Logic Cell (CLC) for real-time logic control and Direct Memory Access (DMA) which enables faster throughput and lowers power consumption. The flexible Peripheral Pin Select or PPS enables flexible digital peripheral mapping to a wide range of external pins which provides more drop-in sockets, increased flexibility for board work-arounds and reduced PCB area. The GB part of the family additionally includes USB-On-The-Go, the ability to easily switch between embedded host and peripheral whereas the GBA products do not, and as a result get a couple of pins back.
