For every MPLAB C or Hi-TECH compiler, Microchip offers a complimentary XC_ compiler of equal or higher value. For example, MPLAB C32 licensees migrate to XC32, any 16-bit MPLAB C or HI-TECH C compilers migrate to XC16, and accordingly, any 8-bit MPLAB C or HI-TECH C Compilers migrate to XC8. HI-TECH licensees need an active, current HPA to be eligible. The complimentary XC_ license comes with a new twelve month HPA, regardless of what remains in the HI-TECH HPA.
