In most of these systems, the front-end sensor interface is a critical portion of the design, so decisions on architecture and critical specifications will be made early in the design process. Microchip has the advantage of assisting clients in this phase of design since Microchip can offer a complete system solution approach. The use of a zero-drift architecture within the MCP6N16 provides for superior DC performance including low offset, low offset drift, eliminates 1/f noise and provides superior common mode and power supply rejection, which is a critical specification for INAs. A charge pump is implemented on the input stage which enables rail-to-rail input operation down to 1.8 V, using a single PMOS device eliminating cross-over distortion. Additional on-chip filtering on the input pins of the amplifier enhance the rejection of unwanted high frequency signals. The MCP6N16 is a single INA available in two package offerings, MSOP, and 3x3 DFN, and is pin compatible with many competitor devices.
