Sensors are used to interface with the physical world, and can include a wide variety of sensor types, monitoring temperature, pressure, humidity, flow, chemical content, pH levels, force, light, etc. However, in all these cases the sensor produces a very small change that must be accurately captured. An instrumentation amplifier is designed to amplify this small signal and reduce any unwanted signals.
