The first target market this presentation will focus on is instrumentation, sometimes referred to as data acquisition. Instrumentation covers a wide range of applications covering industrial, consumer, medical, and even automotive markets – anywhere that a sensor is monitoring a physical condition. Specific examples within industrial instrumentation are included here. A pressure sensor used to monitor a compressed natural gas fuel line may use an instrumentation amplifier. Fabricating integrated circuits is a good example of the need for factory or process control (closely monitoring temperature, pressure, chemical levels, etc.) Also, water or sewage treatment plants utilize sensors for monitoring/testing purposes. White goods also use instrumentation circuits to monitor various conditions, such as the vibration of an industrial washing machine, monitoring the water level, and temperature control.
