The CLC can be configured with an easy-to-use GUI available on microchip.com, and can be re-configured “on the fly” in user software. Because the CLC operates independent of the core, and requires no user memory once configured, it is extremely efficient and low power. It may even function during Sleep mode. Shown on this slide are some of the key benefits of this module. The CLC increases the interconnection between various peripherals, and also acts as peripheral-pin select. It can replace external components and integrate them with the microcontroller. It may save on memory space by performing the logic functions in hardware instead of software. To aid with configuration, a tool has been designed called the CLC configuration tool. This tool helps in coding the circuit graphically instead of in the assembly or C. The configuration tool can potentially save programmers considerable time, and will be helpful in visualizing the circuit behavior.
