MAX44009 Digital Ambient Light Sensor Slide 4
In addition to low power consumption, MAX44009 features an adaptive gain block in order to automatically measure the light without any interrupt from a user. It can take measurements from 0.05lx to 200,000lx without any communication with the microcontroller, making life easy for any system design. The operating voltage is between 1.7 V and 3.6 V. This means the user can connect both the sensor and the I2C lines to the same power line. It is an easy interface for next generation microcontrollers and it has an interrupt function allowing the user to set a window. As soon as the part crosses the thresholds it will alert the microcontroller to take the necessary action. This saves a tremendous amount of power. The address pin can be used to have two different addresses enabling two MAX44009s to share the same I2C line. The MAX44009 is offered in a very small package of 2 mm x 2 mm x 0.6 mm.
