The IC achieves this performance by combining packaging technology, optical filters, and circuit design techniques. A MAX44009 is an all in one solution combining the ambient light sensor with ADC and communication interface, and comes to the marketplace as a low power solution. Active current consumption is 55x lower than the nearest digital light sensor in the market. in the meantime, it offers 64x higher resolution. There is no need to even shutdown this part. The user can keep measuring the light out there, and the information can be accessed any time it is needed.
