The MAX31875 draws most of its supply current during a temperature conversion. The conversion time depends on the resolution: higher-resolution conversions require longer conversion times, and therefore use more energy. Between conversions, the MAX31875 enters a low-power shutdown mode. Therefore, lower-resolution conversions at a slower rate will result in lower average supply current.
