On this slide, a comparison is being made between the straight lead and vertical or inline kink. Since disc capacitors have some distance between the electrodes and the lead wires are soldered to those electrodes, this offsets the leads by some distance. When mounting on a circuit board where space is a concern, this causes the disc to be rotated. In the vertical or inline kink, the leads are bent to be inline with one another and allows the disc to have no rotation on the PCB and to keep the mounting holes directly under the capacitor.
