Unlike most electrolytic capacitors, ceramic capacitors are non-polar (also referred to as bi-polar) which means they have no defined positive and negative terminal. They can be mounted and operated in either orientation without regard to the polarity of the circuit. There is absolutely no concern with a shorter component life and/or catastrophic failure when mounted in either orientation. Electrolytic capacitors such as aluminum and tantalum are polar devices and must be oriented to the polarity of the circuit. Failure to do so will result in short component life and failure.
