This table shows some of the important electrolytic electrical parameters. The capacitance increases as the temperature increases, the capacitance decreases as frequency increases. The ESR which is equivalent series resistance goes down as temperature and frequency increases. It is important to know that the higher the temperature the better the ESR. The leakage current is primarily caused by imperfections in the oxide layer. The leakage current increases when the temperature increases and when the component is stored for a long period of time. A lower leakage current provides an improvement in the life expectancy.
