One potential issue with the FFS receiver occurs in networks with very slow bus transition times. The asymmetrical switching points of a full failsafe receiver will introduce duty cycle distortion on the receiver output signal, resulting in high bits being wider than low bits. The scope photo shown on this slide illustrates the performance difference between an FFS receiver and a non-FFS receiver.
