In a large amount of industrial applications, the input voltage will be from a 24V rail. Stepping this down to a usable voltage for the analog circuitry in an efficient and easy-to-use way is very important. Generally, there will be at least two voltage rails required, maybe 3.3V and 2.5V, so a dual switcher like the ISL85033 is a great choice. Both channels will deliver 3A each, and if needed, the two rails can be tied together to get 6A. One of the advantages of using a dual switcher is the fact that both channels can be set to run 180° out of phase. This will reduce the input capacitance need. The part can be set to run at a frequency up to 2MHz, reducing the size of the external inductor and output capacitance.
