To further illustrate the benefit of the Renesas multiphase controller synthetic current control architecture, captured on this slide is a 140 A load step on the left side, and load release response on the right side at 100 A/µs slew rate. As highlighted earlier in the presentation, the Renesas digital modulator supports dual edge modulation and variable frequency by taking advantage of features like pulse advance to pull in the HSFET response. As can be seen during the load step on the left, Vout deviation is minimized dramatically by both pulling in the PWM pulse signal and supporting a variable duty cycle. During a load release, Vout deviation can be minimized by implementing diode breaking that is supported on the Renesas ISL99227 Smart Power Stage. This further helps minimize the output capacitance needed for the given design.
