Vout is not the same either. Gordon E. Moore described in his 1965 paper the number of transistors in integrated circuit will double every two years for at least 10 years. His statement has been accurate and predicted. Industries have been working very hard to trace his prediction as well. How is this related to the topics covered in this slide? As the numbers of transistors or components has been increasing, more and more current is required. In order to minimize the power consumption, the industries have been improving the system design by reducing Vout so that the power consumption is lower. As seen from the red curve shown here, the required Vout has been dropping from 15 V to 5 V and now to 1 V range. It is important to understand customers’ requirements for Vout, and with the information, Infineon can select an appropriate device for the customer.
