The lineup of Altera Enpirion® PowerSoCs include the controllers, MOSFETs, inductors and high-frequency filter capacitors all integrated into a small package resulting in a highly integrated DC/DC buck regulator module. This high level of integration simplifies the design process, reduces risk, and makes layout easier which results in a faster time-to-market. Since Enpirion® PowerSoCs are designed, tested and qualified as a system, they provide highly reliable solutions with Mean-Time-Between-Failures of greater than 80,000 years. Enpirion’s® PowerSoCs are built on copper lead-frames which provide superior thermal paths to the printed circuit board. The result is a very low junction-to-ambient thermal resistance, which enables devices to operate at the full rated output current, at an industrial ambient temperature of 85°C with no top-side heatsinking and little to no thermal derating. High switching frequencies and careful construction and internal layout techniques result in low EMI, low ripple and fast load transient response. Low EMI and low output voltage ripple ensures that critical transceiver noise mask requirements are met, lower system noise translates into tighter tolerance, and the ability to meet critical regulatory emissions requirements, and fast load transient response means low output voltage deviation which translates into fewer load decoupling capacitors. With all of these value propositions, Altera Enpirion® PowerSoCs are high-performance DC/DC buck regulator modules, ideal for powering a wide range of applications.
