This example shows a complete 72W capable design. Two EC2650QI intermediate bus converters generate in a first conversion step a 6V intermediate bus. This bus is distributed among individual point of load voltage regulators. These point of load converters will do the second and final conversion step to the target voltage. In many use cases, this intermediate bus solution using the EC2650QI will result in an overall system level efficiency that is almost as high as the direct conversion 12V to target voltage, but much smaller and most likely at a lower cost. Depending on the design goals, Intel^® can optimize the solution for smallest size or highest efficiency. These benefits will vary from design to design.
