In summary, there are five main types of terminations that are commonplace in the industrial connector market. Each type has its own unique features and advantages. Crimp terminations are a proven, reliable termination standard. The crimp contact is favored in high volume applications which may need to withstand abuse. Screw terminal terminations require only a screwdriver to terminate the wire, which eliminates some of the cost of tooling. It is available in two varieties; with wire protection and without. The cage clamp is another type that does not require any special tooling to terminate, achieved with a simple screwdriver. It accommodates all types of stranded and solid wire, and requires no special wire preparation. The Han-Quick® Lock operates with a cone aperture being pushed into the stranded wire and trapping it around the edge of the cone to create a connection point. The cone expands the conducting wire over this point, where a stainless steel spring then clamps down over the cone. Axial screw technology allows for quick termination by simply turning a hex key. The cone in the contact chamber terminates the wire at multiple contact points, spreading the strands evenly around the cone. It has the ability to accommodate large cable diameters without the requirement of any special tooling.
