There are other key variables to consider in determining modulus. The boundary conditions take into account other materials friction within the system which might need more stress to compress. As mentioned earlier, the surface area plays a part in the modulus of the material should it be size or shape. The tolerance of the gap in design will affect the amount of pressure exerted onto the material, and the deflection of the material. Another important factor to consider is the time for the relaxation stress on the material. Temperature also affects the factor in pressure when mounting the material to the application. Further discussions in the next few slides will show other variables that affects the stress/strain to the Gap Pad materials.
