Flux Density

Flux density is important when it comes to ferrites for power and inductive applications. Flux density is the number of magnetic lines of force passing through at a point in the ferrite, and saturation point is the point at which the flux density is so great that the magnetic properties are lost. When the flux density is lowered below the saturation point, magnetic properties are restored and the ferrite continues to function. For soft ferrites, manganese-zinc has a higher maximum flux density than nickel-zinc.
