Where Ferrite is Good

The operating frequency will generally dictate the type of material to be used, whether for power or suppression. The geometry needed for the intended application could be a core for a cable, a toroid to incorporate windings, or a type of R core to be integrated within a printed circuit board. Again, the operating temperature is an important factor. Reaching Curie temperature will negate all the properties induced within the ferrite during sintering. For power applications, flux saturation and power loss are the major factors to consider when finding a material for a design.
