Looking at the basic configuration more closely, the charger will be the initial focus of this presentation. The battery charger performs three electronic functions: it enhances phase adjustments made to the wall socket’s alternating current, rectifies the AC voltage to direct current (DC) voltage, and up-converts the household voltage enough to charge an EV with a 40-mile all electric range. The charger can be connected either by the traditional wire that connects to an electric socket or it can charge wirelessly.
