Communication networks designed to serve multi-facetted communities incorporate passive optical networks (PONs), bringing optical fiber cabling and signals to the end user. The demand on bandwidth within the network to support IP video, VoIP, gaming and other services, pushes the design requirements for low noise and high stability reference clocking. CTS provides clock oscillator solutions to support the four basic PON protocols used within this type of network. The table highlights the PON protocols and CTS part numbers for some common frequencies required for these applications. Requirements will vary based on the system architecture and chipset requirements used in a given design approach.
