Semi-shielded inductors are manufactured using several manual and automated processes. First, magnet wire is wrapped around a ferrite core, then magnetic epoxy resin is applied to the winding to form a complete shield, next the winding leads are soldered to the terminal pads. Finally, the electrical and mechanical specifications are tested before the inductors are sent to packaging.
