Construction of the SRN series is similar to conventional non-shielded inductors such as the Bourns® SDR series. During the construction process magnet wire is wound over a metalized solder pad ferrite drum core. However, instead of using a conventional ferrite shield the magnetic shield of the SRN series utilizes an epoxy-ferrite powder mixture. This compound is applied to the perimeter of the inductor and completely envelops the winding.
