Microchip's small and powerful tinyAVR® makes it possible to add intelligence into most devices. In some cases, the benefits are improved energy efficiency and extended battery life. In other cases, tinyAVR can provide more accurate sensing, feedback and control of processes and machinery. And often, tinyAVR can enhance the user experience and product value by providing a better, more intelligent and more user-friendly interface. The examples of applications that tinyAVR can enhance are endless. Examples include: Light Bulbs – Intelligence plays a role in the energy-efficient lighting solutions that are replacing energy wasting, but low cost, incandescent light bulbs. Engineers need a solution that offers the same benefits and user experience, like dimming, etc. A small, but powerful MCU is required to control today’s fluorescent tube or LED light fixtures. Keys - Mechanically activated locks are replaced by remotely controlled locks including at least one transmitter/receiver pair. Both of these require an MCU, preferably small in size, to make the key pocket sized and deliver low power consumption. Pedometer – This device counts steps, calculates calories and displays the results on an LCD screen. This would be impossible without an MCU that masters the system.
