CryptoAuthOverview-Slide10
It is clear that many different types of products can benefit from the enhanced and easy to use hardware based security that the Microchip CryptoAuthentication™ devices provide. What is it about the Microchip devices that make them so robust? It is a combination of diverse features that provide ease-of-use, low cost, and state-of-the-art security. As noted earlier, all Microchip CryptoAuthentication™ devices have the latest cryptographic algorithms including AES-128; SHA-256; and ECC B283, K283, and P256. They all have an internally generated hardware Random Number Generator which is a critical element of authentication and encryption. The devices include a factory guaranteed unique serial number for identification and key diversification, and they implement a flexible command set for authorization, verification, and protected key management. Secure storage of keys and data is granted in a segmented fashion for independent configuration and usage, and multiple security schemes are handled by the same device. In addition to robust cryptography, easy-to-use commands sets, and secure key storage, the Microchip  CryptoAuthentication™ devices impart voltage, temperature, frequency, and light tamper resistance; encrypted storage, active shield, and secure testing without the need of accessible test points.
