Binary coded decimal (BCD) is a class of binary encodings of decimal numbers where each decimal digit is represented by a fixed number of bits. The most commonly used BCD code, natural BCD is represented by the table on the right side of the slide. The most commonly used output codes among APEM customers, standard on APEM’s DIP Coded Rotary switches with the exception of the 64-position P56, are: Binary Coded Decimal (BCD) and BCD-Complement, which are both 10 positions switches, and BCD-Hexadecimal and BCD-Hexadecimal Complement, which are both 16-positions. Although these four codes are standard, APEM’s DIP Coded Rotary switches are available in twenty one different output codes.
