iSensor Slide 2

An iSensor starts with the Core Sensor, or Sensor Suite, and adds signal conditioning and conversion to provide a stable and easily accessible signal format. The sensor is also calibrated to correct for offsets and other performance variances which are either inherent to the sensor itself, or which are further impacted by the follow-on analog signal conditioning. The iSensor features an embedded programmable control block, which serves several functions including digital post processing, sensor tuning, diagnostics, and auxiliary control. Additional application-targeted features are also integrated, such as power management and interfaces. The single component direct coupling of both the sensor suite and the analog/digital processing allows a significantly higher overall level of performance since all sensor-impacting components are pre-integrated before calibration, and are therefore factory guaranteed. This eliminates having to contend with a stack-up of datasheet spec limit tolerances at the end-system integration level. Factory calibration saves the system designer time, cost, risk, and performance. This is particularly true for inertial sensors which require ‘Motion Tests’ for calibration. The iSensor embedded control engine enhances device functionality and design flexibility. The embedded control engine is not a general purpose compute engine, but a cost-effective set of basic programming features that allow the Sensor Suite to be easily tuned in-system. The sensor-novice can implement design concepts in record time without significant test infrastructure costs or steep learning curves, allowing the sensor-proficient designer to ability to concentrate on other important aspects of the design. Most embedded sensor requirements are very challenging system designs that stretch component capabilities in terms of low power, physical size, environmental conditions, accessibility, and other aspects. With application-targeted system interfaces, embedded power management features, and fully integrated, tested, and calibrated designs, the iSensor products eliminate many of the barriers to Sensor System Integration.
