Shown here is how to interface the ADL5902 RF detector to an ADC. In this application, the power supply voltage and reference voltage for the AD7466 12-Bit ADC are provided by the ADL5902’s on board 2.3V reference. Because the AD7466 consumes very little current, there is very little current draw on this reference voltage so it has no problem providing supply current for the ADC. The ADC’s fullscale input voltage is now set to 2.3V. The maximum RF detector output voltage (when operating in its linear input range) is approximately 3.5V. This voltage must therefore be scaled down before driving the ADC. This scaling is implemented using a simple resistor divider between the devices.
