Many instrumentation amplifier datasheets indicate they have the ability to measure voltages near the supply rails. This may be true, however these same amplifiers may have difficulty amplifying gain to these voltages near the supply rails. This is due to internal nodes that may saturate – even when the input and output nodes are well within their ranges. The following slides explain this behavior in more detail.
