What can be done to solve the RFI problem? If the interference is primarily coming through the input leads, one solution that works very well is to use a filter before the instrumentation amplifier. This filter removes the radio waves before they reach the instrumentation amplifier. It is imperative that the filtering be placed before the instrumentation amplifier before the high frequency energy can be rectified, rather than after the In Amp, where the filter will be ineffective against the already rectified (low frequency) signal. Another way to reduce RFI interference is to twist the leads connected to the instrumentation amplifier. This will reduce their ability to pick up the high frequencies and deliver them to the In Amp. If the radio interference is particularly strong, it may come in through other pins on the instrumentation amplifier or through the package itself. If this is the case, there is little that can be done other than completely shielding the circuitry.
