The AS5601 and a knob with magnet form the contactless encoder application. Per default, turning the knob 360° results in two incremental output cycles. The start position depends on the orientation of the magnet inside the knob. Depending on the mechanical grid and electrical configuration, the number of output pulses can be configured. The electrical output can be configured as well to a mechanical grid by setting a grid offset. For proper functioning of the push-output, a threshold must be configured. The output can be programmed as shown in the next few slides.
