From the inventors of the BNC, Amphenol RF has created the new HD-BNC™. The high density solution that allows for four times as many interconnects as the BNC. Amphenol’s HD-BNC™ was designed from inception as a 75Ω interface, unlike many other adaptations of the 50Ω original. As a result, many of those will perform satisfactorily even with the demands of the SMPTE-292M and 424M, however, the Amphenol RF HD-BNC™ was designed with the standards of the analog and digital video and audio signals in mind. The Bayonet coupling provides a positive lock and allows for quick and easy connect and disconnect. The HD-BNC™ has a “twist to mate” interface, in which an installation tool can engage from the rear or cable side to the coupling mechanism to assist in turning the mating sleeve. Unlike HD-BNC™, the 1.0/2.3 interface must be pulled to de-mate and the removal tool must be configured so that it must be engaged from the side. The HD-BNC™ is highly adaptable fitting traditional broadcast cables.
