PwrBlade is a highly configurable, cost effective industry standard power connector for embedded AC/DC power supply applications. It is SSI-compliant (Server System Infrastructure, a server standard developed by Intel) and integrates DC and AC power contacts plus standard signal contacts into a single molded housing. While it does meet the SSI standard, it is also highly configurable so customers can specify the exact number of power and signal contacts for their particular application without the need for additional tooling which saves both leadtime and cost. PwrBlade accomplishes this by incorporating a modular tooling approach. In addition, PwrBlade is capable of carrying 48A/contact for an individual contact and 30A/contact for 10 adjacent contacts without exceeding a 30°C temperature rise in still air. It has three levels of mating within the power and signal contacts for grounding as well as hot swap applications. It also has a cable-to-board option that will be discussed shortly in more detail.
