Behind-the-meter BESS Application

Battery energy storage system in commercial buildings and homes are considered behind-the-meter BESS. Installing BESS for commercial or residential use is to effectively reduce energy costs through demand management, and to provide back-up power and peaking capacity. Users can do peak shaving to flatten demand peaks to avoid peak demand charges and have power available from this small-sized battery storage system during peak hours. In the compact behind-the-meter BESS, ADAM-6217 Ethernet I/O is used to acquire HVAC data such as temperature change, connecting to the ECU-150-12A1 gateway which is using I.MX8 with TPM 2.0 to run the BMS management software. WOP-20xK series visualization gateway has the human-machine interface, enabling efficient BESS data visualization. All the machines are connected to the EKI-2528 8-port unmanaged switch and then transmits the data to EMS. In the meanwhile, Edge365 edge device management cloud service can remotely monitor and manage the devices in every behind-the-meter BESS to ensure overall micro grid stability.
