Heat Sink Materials

The two most common materials used for Heat Sinks are aluminum and copper because of their high thermal conductivities. Each has its own set of benefits. Aluminum is more cost-effective, lightweight, and easily machined into desired geometries. Copper has a higher thermal conductivity, although it is less easily machined, heavier, and more expensive.
