XCL206 Micro Buck Converter with Integrated Inductor

Torex Semiconductor's XCL206 series has an output of 600 mA and a 3 MHz synchronous step-down DC-DC converter with an integrated inductor. The whole solution, including a 1.5 µH inductor, measures only 2.5 mm x 2.0 mm and has a package profile of only 1.0 mm, making it one of the smallest solutions of its kind on the market today. Requiring only two external ceramic capacitors to configure a step-down circuit capable of providing efficiencies in excess of 85 percent, the XCL206 is ideally suited for applications that require high efficiency plus low output noise in an extremely small PCB area.

Input voltage range is 2.0 V to 6.0 V and output voltages from 0.8 V to 4.0 V (+/-2%) and can be selected in 50 mV steps (factory laser trimmed).

The XCL206 features an auto CL discharge function. In addition, the B type also has a high speed soft-start function (0.5 ms max compared to 2.5 ms max for the other versions). All versions feature built-in current limiters (constant current and latching) and short circuit protection. A CE pin enables the device to be put into stand-by thereby reducing current consumption from an already low 21 µA typ. in operation to less than 1.0 µA in stand-by.
