ZX360 Series USB 3.0 Connector

Hirose has developed a USB 3.0 connector that significantly increases data transmission speeds from those of a USB 2.0 connector. Designated the ZX360 series, these B-type connectors allow transmissions up to 5 Gb/s, almost 10 times faster than USB 2.0 connectors. The higher speed enables seamless, uncompressed transmission of high-speed data such as high definition (HD) moving pictures and is ideal for portable audio, cell phones, smart phones, cameras, mass storage devices, and notebook computers.

The ZX360 provides 10 pins that allow for an all-signal configuration rated at 1 A per pin or a power/signal combination arrangement where pins 1 and 5 are rated for 1.8 A per pin and pins 2-4 and pins 6-10 can then only run at 0.5 A per pin. It has an operating temperature of -30°C to 85°C and a rated voltage of 30 V_AC.

The connector, which is supplied without the overmold and measures 12.85 mm by 5 mm x 2.5 mm is RoHS-compliant and halogen-free. It has been tested to show an average contact resistance of 30 mΩ and an average mating / unmating force of 7.3 N and 13.7 N respectively. Insertion and withdrawal force remains stable over 10,000 cycles of mating / unmating operations.
