The last type of Chip LEDs that Würth Elektronik is presenting is the reverse mount LEDs. The reverse mount LEDs can be mounted under the PCB, and they emit the light through a small hole cut into the PCB. What is so special about the reverse mount LEDs? Würth Elektronik provides a high choice of colors and lenses. The package size 1205 is available in mono-, bi- and full-color in rectangular lenses. This conforms to the WL-SMRW and WL-SMRD series. The mono-color LEDs are an alternative to WL-SMRW 1206. The 1205 size is slimmer than 1206, but offers higher intensity with a viewing angle of 140° in waterclear lens. The WL-SMRD series has the same characteristics, but is available with a wider viewing angle of 160° in diffused lens. Size 1206 is the common package size for reverse mount LEDs with different lens types - rectangular, cylindrical and dome – making it the perfect match for every design. LEDs with rectangular and cylindrical lenses have a wide viewing angle and small package with exceptional brightness. This is why they are ideal for space constrained applications and are used in LCD backlighting, general lighting and front panel indicators. The mono-color 1206 LEDs with a dome lens is Würth Elektronik's next generation to the reverse mount package. The construction of the dome lens supports optimal optical characteristics, with a viewing angle of 20°, which ensures that the light emission is narrow enough to be coupled efficiently with light pipe applications. With a small size and thin PCB, these are ideal for saving space in many applications. For example; they are great for use in fitness wearables, medical and healthcare applications. This product family is available in a full spectrum of standard colors. Besides the mono-color reverse mount Chip LEDs, Würth Elektronik's portfolio holds bi- and full-color LEDs. The bi-color combinations are Red/Green, Red/Bright Green, and Red/Blue. These LEDs are compatible with automatic placement machines and are commonly used in messenger boards, networking and telecommunication applications.
