As already mentioned, the second type of Chip LEDs are the side view LEDs. The side view LED is mounted sidelong on the PCB. Like the top view Chip LEDs, the side view LEDs can be classified into mono-color (series WL-SMSW), bi-color (series WL-SBSW) and full-color (series WL-SFSW). These products are designed in an industry standard package of 1204 with single chips and multiple chips, for ease of handling and for use in a variety of applications. The main characteristics are the small size, standard footprint, wide viewing angle and high intensity output. Compatible with reflow soldering, this series of side mounted LEDs is suitable for high volume PCB mounted applications. The combination of Red/Green, Red/Bright Green and RGB are excellent for display backlighting, status indication and industry white goods.
