The Fred technology is based on two fundamental elements: i) the weak anode doping resp. of low reverse peak current and ii) Pt (lifetime killer) that is trapping the minority carrier allowed during switching condition that current recoveries faster without overshoot. The result is a device with low reverse recovery energy (Erec). This optimization of the diode (low reverse recovery charge Qrr) is reflected in the switch that it is less stressed during normal working condition.
