The design circuit shown here is the equivalent of the LED PWM shown on the previous slide, only this time solved using LTspice® XVII. When comparing the two circuits (this one and the one in SystemVision), they are nearly 100% identical. As LTspice XVII is normally more directed to pure electronics, the thermal transistor and LED models are not directly available (i.e. two additional pins delivering the heat flow directly). Fortunately, together with a voltage-driven thermistor, Vishay was able to create new kinds of models to accommodate these limitations. The models are readily available together with the presented simulation and can be requested by emailing edesign.ntc@vishay.com. The versatility of the arbitrary behavior sources available in this software enable the adventurous designer to find innovative solutions to their problem through simulation. The results of the aforementioned simulation are outlined in the next slide.
