Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) is the newest storage interface. It is an open logical device interface specification for accessing non-volatile storage media attached via a PCI Express (PCIe) bus. The NVMe interface was designed to address key features: Exploit low latency and internal parallelism of flash-based storage devices; Capitalize on the parallelism in host hardware and software; Improve overall efficacy and system level performance with command parameters in one 64-byte fetch for performance that is roughly 3 times faster than traditional SATA.
