Tripp Lite offers two different types of PowerVerters: APS Inverter/Chargers and PV Inverters. The APS inverter/chargers are designed to provide either backup power or mobile power for a variety of applications: commercial/residential, telecom, retail, and more. They feature a DC-to-AC inverter - to provide battery backup support for electrical equipment when AC power is absent (either during a power failure or when a vehicle or boat is mobile). They also feature an AC-to-DC battery charger - to replenish battery backup support when AC power is present. In addition, inverter/chargers include surge and line noise filtering to protect connected equipment from damage or performance distortion. Tripp Lite inverter/chargers feature heavy-duty polycarbonate or metal cases and provide up to 6000 W of continuous power (or up to 12,000 W in peak surge conditions) to run a wide range of devices. Tripp Lite PowerVerter PV inverters on the other hand, are designed exclusively for mobile power applications, allowing users to operate office or household devices while in a vehicle or boat. Inverters draw power directly from a vehicle’s or a boat’s main battery. They do not require a battery charger because the vehicle or boat engine charges the main battery. Tripp Lite PV inverters feature compact, all-metal cases for enhanced portability and durability. They provide up to 700 W of continuous power (or up to 1400 W, instantaneously, in peak surge conditions) to run a wide range of devices.
