When the line voltage is applied, the relay will close and provide power to the primary of the transformer. If the transformer overheats, the thermal switch will open. This will cause the relay to open and the current to the primary will stop. The current to the transformer will re-start when the transformer cools and the thermal switch closes. An example of how a relay can be chosen for use on the VPM240-15600 is shown on the slide.
